Third baseman Aramis Ramirez launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Carlos
Zambrano dominated striking out 10 Philadelphia batters at Citizen's Bank
Park as the Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Philadelphia Phillies by the count of
6 to 3.

Ramirez provided the offensive punch. He smashed a two-run homer in the 6th
inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 26th of the season) in
the 8th inning. Chicago (NL) managed 9 in their victory.

Zambrano(15-6) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Zambrano
got relief help from Ryan Dempster who gained credit for his 20th save.
Ugueth Urbina(8-6) was given the loss in relief.

Zambrano didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he
had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a
decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty
good, isn't it?'

as the strong Philadelphia Phillies defeated the floundering Colorado Rockies
by the score of 9 to 1 at Coors Field.

Philadelphia jumped on top to stay in the top of the 3rd inning when they
tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for
Myers(11-4) and Philadelphia. That was all the run support Myers required.
Philadelphia rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.

Jason Jennings(5-9) suffered the loss. He pitched 5 and 1/3 innings giving up
6 hits and 7 walks.

The win was credited to Ugueth Urbina(8-5) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.

First baseman Ryan Howard slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Coors Field as
the impressive Philadelphia Phillies beat the pathetic Colorado Rockies by
the count of 11 to 5.

Howard provided much of the offense. He lost the ball over the fence for
three runs in the 1st inning, tripled in the 4th inning, delivered a base-hit
scoring a run in the 7th inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 15th
of the season) in the 9th inning. Philadelphia banged out 16 on the
afternoon.

The victory went to Randy Wolf(5-3) who went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs. The
losing pitcher was Jamey Wright(4-12). 'I didn't feel that good when I came
to the park today,' Howard said. 'I'm glad I decided to play!'

many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

Rheal Cormier(3-0) allowed 1 run in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.

Todd Pratt slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies
smashed the overmatched Houston Astros, 14 to 2.

Philadelphia took the lead off Wandy Rodriguez in the first inning scoring 4
runners on 4 hits. That early run support was enough for Brett Myers(10-4)
and Philadelphia. Houston was out-hit by Philadelphia, 15 hits to 8.

Rodriguez(4-8) was charged with the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 8 hits and 6 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

The Philadelphia ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 64-38.
With the loss, the Houston ballclub's record is 46-54.
