Philadelphia was unable to recover after Texas went ahead in the top of the
7th inning scoring a single run. After an out was recorded, Alfonso Soriano
ripped a solo home run (his 3rd of the season). Texas managed 8 in their
victory.

Doug Brocail(2-0) did what was required of him in relief and came away with

pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was still not enough for
Philadelphia to come away with the victory.

Kevin Mench added four ribbies to his seasonal total with one swing of the bat
at Ameriquest Field as the Texas Rangers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11 to
4.
The Texas fans enjoyed the offense provided by Mench. He emptied the bases
with a Grand Slam homerun (his 4th of the season) in the 1st inning and
doubled scoring two baserunners in the 6th inning. Texas totaled 11 on the
night.
The win was credited to Chris Young(2-0) who went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Cory Lidle(0-1) suffered the loss. He allowed 6 runs and 5 hits
without retiring a batter.

The Texas Rangers defeated the New York (AL) Yankees by a score of 9 to 6 at
Ameriquest Field.

Texas set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 2 runs on 3 hits.
David Dellucci initiated the scoring when he cracked a solo homerun (his 1st
of the season). Michael Young followed and he laced a single. Young got a
good lead and stole second. Two outs later Richard Hidalgo came to the plate
and slapped a single scoring the final run of the inning. Despite losing,
New York (AL) out-hit Texas 14 to 11.

Kameron Loe(2-1) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. Loe got
help from Francisco Cordero who earned his 6th save. Chien-Ming Wang(2-1)
was charged with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 1/3 innings of

39,834 fans watched an exciting game at Citizen's Bank Park. The Philadelphia
Phillies topped the Atlanta Braves by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Philadelphia ended
up winning it in the 11th inning. Jason Michaels laced a one-base hit.
David Bell stepped up to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Todd
Pratt then singled making Philadelphia the victor and beginning a joyous home
town celebration. The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5
times.

Ryan Madson(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. The losing
pitcher was Kyle Davies(0-1) in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk in

Jimmy Rollins had 2 base hits at Turner Field as the Philadelphia Phillies
beat the Atlanta Braves by the count of 3 to 2.

Philadelphia scored all of the necessary runs in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs
using 3 hits. After two were out Tomas Perez initiated the scoring spurt
when he delivered a base-hit. Rollins stepped up to the plate and he hit a
single. Jason Michaels then lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his
1st of the season). Both teams ended up with 5 on the night.

Geoff Geary(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Geary got relief

The New York (AL) Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers by a score of 7 to 4 at
Yankee Stadium.

New York (AL) won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with 3
runs utilizing 2 base hits. Robinson Cano led off and keyed the rally when
he lined a one-base hit. Gary Sheffield came next and he drew a walk. Alex
Rodriguez then lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his 2nd of the
season). Tanyon Sturtze(1-0) got help from Mariano Rivera who pitched great
and earned his 3rd save.

Brian Shouse(0-2) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 1 hit and 2 walks

Catcher Johnny Estrada touched them all and had 3 RBI as the Atlanta Braves

Estrada enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He doubled bringing in a run in
the 2nd inning, blasted a two-run home run (his 2nd of the season) in the 3rd

threatened in the 9th but Atlanta was able to put down the rally.

Tim Hudson(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Chris Reitsma got the save, his 1st. Brett Myers(2-1) was charged with the
loss.

Phillies topped the Atlanta Braves by the slimmest of margins, 5 to
4.

Philadelphia scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 4 base hits. Jimmy Rollins began the Philadelphia spurt when he
hit a bases-empty home run (his 1st of the season). After an out was
recorded, Chase Utley stepped in and he banged out a single. One out later,
Pat Burrell stepped in and he cracked a two-run shot (his 2nd of the season).
Billy Wagner pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 2nd save.
