First baseman Mark Teixeira had 2 base hits as the Texas Rangers topped the
Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 3 to 2 at Ameriquest Field.

Texas scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 8th inning with 2 runs.
After two outs Kevin Mench got things rolling when he drew a walk. Richard
Hidalgo came next and he smashed a two-run homer (his 5th of the season).
The Philadelphia batters went down meekly in the 9th.

Brian Shouse(1-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. Shouse got help from Francisco Cordero who was credited with his 7th
save. Ugueth Urbina(0-1) was the loser in relief. He gave up 1 hit and 1
walk in 2/3 of an inning.
