Second baseman Chase Utley went deep and had 2 RBI and Cory Lidle went 7
strong innings at Citizen's Bank Park as the Philadelphia Phillies won in
their last at-bat beating the reeling Washington Nationals by the count of 5
to 2.

Philadelphia came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 9th
inning with 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. After two were out Utley initiated
the scoring spurt when he stroked a base-hit. Bobby Abreu came next and he
stroked a single. Pat Burrell then clubbed a three-run home run (his 17th of
the season) making Philadelphia the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. Overall Philadelphia out-hit Washington 12 to 4.

The victory was credited to Billy Wagner(2-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. John Halama(0-8) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3
innings and surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk.
