In a close game the Atlanta Braves got by the St. Louis Cardinals by the score
of 9 to 7.

The game started off with Atlanta taking the lead in the first when they
tallied 5 runs on 6 hits. The highlight belonged to Julio Franco who helped
quiet the crowd when he blasted a two-run home run (his 1st of the season).
St. Louis threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Tim Hudson(1-0) allowed 6 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Kyle
Farnsworth recorded his 1st save. Mark Mulder(0-1) was tagged with the loss.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Hudson, 'I got burned on
a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
