First baseman Albert Pujols blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Turner Field
as the St. Louis Cardinals came back dramatically to top the Atlanta Braves
by the score of 10 to 9.

St. Louis came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
scoring 3 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Larry Walker got things going when he
lined a base-hit. John Rodriguez came next and he drew a walk. Kyle
Farnsworth then let loose a wild pitch. John Mabry struck out, unable to
help the rally. Abraham O. Nunez came to the plate and drew a walk to load
the bases. Hector Luna continued the rally and stroked a single plating two
runs. One out later, Farnsworth came to the plate and had one get away for a
wild pitch scoring the final run of the inning. St. Louis banged out 13 on
the night.

The winning pitcher was Randy Flores(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an
inning. Al Reyes was credited with his 1st save. Farnsworth(0-1) absorbed
the loss in relief.

Tony LaRussa was very happy after the game, 'It's great to come back and win
it in your last at bats! Our guys just wouldn't give up. And did you see the
fans - one minute they're laughing and screaming down all sorts of
unprintable stuff at our guys - the next minute - SILENCE! Yes sir, a very
enjoyable win tonight!'
