Brian Giles had 5 hits and 2 RBI as the San Diego Padres defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies in 24 innings 4 to 3 at Petco Park.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. San Diego came out the victor
in the 24th inning. Damian Jackson drew a walk. Mark Loretta next to the
plate and he laced a base-knock. Ryan Klesko then drew a walk to load the
bases. Giles stepped in and he lined a base-hit making San Diego victorious
to the delight of the the home town crowd. San Diego had 19 hits for the
game and Philadelphia had 16.

Adam Eaton(1-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 5 innings. Jon
Lieber(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 3 and 2/3 innings
allowing 5 hits and 3 walks.
